Beauty Changes Lives Accepting Scholarship Entries

The American Association of Cosmetology Schools, Beauty Changes Lives Foundation and some of the biggest names in the beauty and wellness industry are pleased to introduce Beauty Changes Lives scholarships.

The innovative competition funds $2,000 tuition beauty school scholarships to individuals planning a career in cosmetology, esthetics, nails, barbering or massage at a qualified cosmetology school.

Scholarship entry information is available here. Each applicant must submit a one-to-three minute video or an essay of up to 500 words that answers the following questions: “How does beauty change lives?” and “How will you change lives as a beauty and wellness professional?” Scholarship entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, December 3, 2012.

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of professionals working in the beauty and wellness industry. Judges will consider each applicant’s creativity, grammar and presentation, along with the impact the applicant aspires to make as a beauty and wellness professional and the number of online votes each applicant receives.

Beauty Changes Lives Foundation Board of Directors President Lynelle Lynch noted that the scholarships present an opportunity for everyone who has ever dreamed of working in the beauty and wellness industry. “I am continually amazed by people who tell me they always dreamed of working in the beauty and wellness industry but did not receive the support to make their dream a reality. In addition to providing scholarships, Beauty Changes Lives showcases the extraordinary careers in the Beauty and Wellness Industry and highlights the successful career paths within this creative and financially rewarding industry,” Lynch said.

She noted that several esteemed brands and industry leaders support the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. “The generosity of those working in the industry has truly been overwhelming. From celebrity hairstylists to some of the world’s largest beauty and wellness brands including Wella Corporation – Professional Division of P&G and Massage Envy, those working in the beauty and wellness industry truly believe that beauty changes lives,” Lynch commented.

Beyond Ready For The New School Semester

I honestly cannot wait for the new school semester to begin. I am so over summer & all of this free time on my hands. LOL! I already got most of my school supplies, including this sexy Juicy Couture binder set!

Isn’t it adorable? I love Juicy Couture so much, especially because most of their stuff has a crown. I mean I am a princess. LOL

This past weekend I had a 2 day orientation at my new school, Long Island University’s Post Campus. I can honestly say that I am already in love with my new school.

I definitely want to try out for my school’s kickline/pom dance team. They’re called the pioneerettes. The uniforms are super cute too. I’d post a picture of the team but I’m not sure how the team or any of the girls would feel about that, so I won’t until I’m on the team. Yes, I said until I am on the team because I’m so sure I’d make it once I try out! Think positively & attract positive energy. :)

While on the subject of dancing, I’m nervous for my jazz class at school. We’re dancing in jazz shoes with 3inch heels. Every jazz class that I’ve ever taken I’ve danced in flat shoes, whether jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Ah maroneeeee! LOL! I am going to start practicing in the shoes early so I don’t make a fool out of myself in the class. I’m sure I can handle it. I’m kind of excited though because based on the shoes, I’m assuming we’ll be doing broadway style dancing. I’ve never done that before! I’m always down for trying new things. :) I just have to find an adult ballet class that I want to take & I’ll be content with all of the dance activities going on in my life – jazz, ballet, & the kickline/pom dance team. I might take a regular jazz class & hip hop class on top of that eventually. I have to see how everything plays out before I keep adding on to my plate.

[Update - August 07, 2012] So yesterday I registered for a different jazz class at my school AND a ballet class! Yay! I still want to register for an outside jazz class & an outside ballet class, maybe a hip hop class too. So now I have to find out what shoes I need for this jazz class & ballet class. Woot! So excited! [/Update]

I also fell in love with a sorority there, Phi Sigma Sigma. Will I pledge? Most likely… I have to do more research on the sorority before I decide. But thus far, I love them. I spoke with a school advisor about their study abroad program. There’s a great journalism program at a school in London. But what, it gets better… The school also has a great dance studio! Can you tell I was already sold? I am going to start the application process & see if I can make that happen soon. :) Something like that would definitely be a great experience!

You know I will keep you all posted on my journey through life… :) xo

What Does The Next Chapter Hold?

When one chapter ends, a new one begins. Now that summer is coming to an end, a new chapter in Honey’s life shall begin. I have a few things that I’m looking forward to in this new beginning…

First of all, school! The new school semester begins for me on September 5, 2012. I never thought I would be so excited for summer to end & for school to begin. LOL! Crazy right?! Anyway, this will be my first semester at a new school! I will be a transfer student at Long Island University’s CW Post Campus! I am still a journalism major. Next semester, however, I might double major in dance. Depends on how this semester goes! I registered for a jazz dance class at school & I also plan on trying out for the school’s dance team. I also registered for a yoga class, I’m geeked about that! Only thing left on my “to-do dance” checklist is to register for a ballet class. I found a studio that I love, so I have inquired about their adult ballet classes.

I also have my new jobs to look forward to! I started working with a new make-up company + I will be doing make-up out of a gorgeous salon very soon! I recently got hired as a promotional model for a vodka company. That’s going to be a blast, I’m sure. I actually work my first event with the company tonight. Wish me luck!!

I feel like there is so much more that I can write about, but as I’m sitting here actually writing – it’s all slipped my mind. Waaaa!

So as this chapter comes to a close, and a new one begins, one can only hope for the best…

PS – Of course I was going to use Marilyn Monroe pictures for this post! LOL :)
